Gratia Christian College – CKCIS Scholarship (2023/24)
Introduction to CKC Chinese Input System縱橫漢字輸入法 (CKCIS)
CKCIS is a Chinese language digitalization input system that launched its first edition in 1989.
CKCIS uses only the 10 numerals to input and encode Chinese characters. Through continuous improvement and updates, CKCIS can now be downloaded free of charge in both traditional and simplified Chinese to run on computers and smartphones using Windows, Android and iOS. CKCIS also provides more than 250,000 predefined common Chinese phrases which can be called out by keying in numerics, making input of Chinese characters easier and faster than ever.
CKCIS has been promoted in Mainland China since the early 1990s. Trainings and competitions have been organized nation-wide for different levels of schools and age groups. CKCIS has been recognized by the Central Government and is widely used in more than 30 provinces and cities, as well as many other countries with significant Chinese populations. CKCIS has been conferred 2 national patents and is ranked top 3 among more than 2,000 Chinese input methods.
The Concept and Application of CKCIS
CKCIS is an appearance-based coding system. The strokes and features of the Chinese character components are classified into 10 groups, represented by 10 numbers 0 through 9.
A 4-sentences rhyme helps users to memorize the relationship betweencharacter strokes and their respectivecodes.
